What is Recertification?
Recertification is the training requirement that allows HCSPs to maintain their certification to provide home and community-based services. It is required under Indiana state regulation and applies to any HCSP who has already completed the original HCSP Training. The recertification training covers key topics from the original curriculum and must be completed to keep HCSP’s certification active.
How HCSPs Access Recertification
You do not need to take any action to enroll HCSPs in the recertification learning path. The system handles this automatically based on two conditions:
- The HCSP has completed the original HCSP Training learning path: (English) Home and Community Support Professional Training.
- At least 9 months have passed since they completed the original training.
Once both conditions are met, the Initial HCSP Recertification Training learning path will unlock in the learner's course library.
NOTE
If 9 months have passed since your original certification and you do not see the recertification learning path under My Courses on the Dashboard, please contact hcsptraining@syrahealth.com.
To help you stay on top of your roster, Syra Health will send you a monthly email listing any HCSPs in your organization who are currently eligible to complete recertification. That email will include each HCSP's name, the date they received their original certification, the date their recertification window opened, and the deadline for them to complete recertification. If no HCSPs in your organization are currently eligible, you will not receive an email that month.
Recertification Window
HCSPs have until the end of the 12th month after completing the original HCSP training to complete recertification. If recertification is not completed by that deadline, their certification will lapse.
Here is an example:
| Original Certification Date | Original Certification Expires | Recertification Window Opens (9 Months after original certification) | Recertification Window Closes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9/29/2025 | 9/30/2026 | 7/01/2026 | 9/30/2026 |
